Description

The Dead Sea, Jordan River and Jericho private tour is a full day journey from Jerusalem or Bethlehem through the Judean Desert to the lowest point on earth, combining ancient history, biblical sites, and desert scenery with a licensed guide and a private vehicle.

  • Judean Desert drive
  • Sea Level mark stop
  • Old City of Jericho (Tel Es-Sultan)
  • Mount of Temptation (cable car optional)
  • Sycamore Tree
  • Jordan River
  • Dead Sea

This private tour begins with hotel or apartment pickup around 9:30 and a scenic ride through the Judean Desert. A short stop at the Sea Level mark gives you time to take in the desert view, with a chance to photograph camels. Continuing down toward the lowest point on earth, you visit the Old City of Jericho, also known as Tel Es-Sultan and historically called Ancient Jericho, regarded as one of the oldest known towns with ruins dating back roughly 10,000 years. From there the route reaches the Mount of Temptation, the mountain where Jesus is believed to have fasted for forty days, with a monastery set into the cliffside that welcomes both men and women. The cable car ride up the mountain is optional.

The tour then moves to the new city of Jericho, near the center of which stands the tree believed to be the biblical Sycamore that Zacchaeus climbed to see Jesus. The day continues to the Jordan River, where John the Baptist is said to have baptized Jesus, before finishing at the Dead Sea. The itinerary is a proposal and can be customized to your wishes, and all timings are approximate. With the Tel Aviv pickup option, drop off at Ben Gurion Airport after the tour is possible.
