The tour begins in Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus Christ. With your guide you first visit the Shepherds' Field in the small town of Beit Sahour, where a church marks the place an angel is said to have announced the birth of Jesus to the shepherds. You then continue to the old city of Bethlehem and the Church of the Nativity, where a small star in a cave beneath the church marks the spot believed to be the birthplace of Jesus. A guided visit explains the rich history of this church, one of the oldest in the world. Nearby you visit the Milk Grotto Church, believed to be where Mary and Joseph rested before fleeing to Egypt, and St. Catharine Church.
After the Bethlehem visits there is a short coffee break at a local olive wood factory, where you meet local artisans and learn about their craft, followed by the cooperative souvenir store. The tour then crosses the Judean Desert toward Jericho, one of the oldest cities in the world, with an optional short stop at the Sea Level Sign for photos and camels before descending 430 meters to Jericho, the lowest city on earth. In Jericho you visit the Mount of Temptation, the biblical Sycamore Tree, the old city of Jericho (Tel es-Sultan), and finally the Jordan River.
