The day starts with pickup from your hotel or apartment, then continues to Beit Sahour to see Shepherds' Field, where a small church marks the place associated with the angel announcing the birth of Jesus to the shepherds. In the Old City of Bethlehem you visit the Church of the Nativity, built over the cave traditionally held to be the birthplace of Jesus, where your guide explains the history of one of the oldest churches in the world, along with the adjoining Saint Catherine's Church. The tour also stops at the Milk Grotto Church, linked to the tradition of Mary and Joseph resting before the flight to Egypt.
After the churches there is a short coffee break at a local olive wood factory, where you can meet artisans and see their craft, followed by the cooperative souvenir store. The tour then visits King Solomon's Pools and the Closed Garden of Bethlehem Monastery, associated with the garden enclosed referenced in the writing of King Solomon, and finishes at Herodion National Park, the hilltop site of King Herod's palace and fortress with its gardens, apartments, and defensive structures.
